Week 3

For this week, I choose Rhapsody in Blue, by George Gershwin. Now when I first typed this in on youtube all I could find was a bunch of 15 minute videos of this, now this is a great song and all, but I didnt really want to listen to for 45 minutes straight, So I found a 5 minute version on google. This is an epic song, it kind of reminds me of the old tom and jerry shows, like this is probably something they would play in the back ground. My favorite part was probably the piano solo towards the end because, whoever that guy is, he is way good. Most of the time there really was not a lot going on, It was a lot of solo's and a few people playing most of the time, and not all of them at once, so that was pretty cool. I also noticed that there was a lot of different kinds of instruments, like the flute in the begining, the trumpets, and of course the piano. And most of the solo's / small groups, when they played, most of the time what ever they were playing was pretty complex. This song pretty much was a bunch of complex solo's put together. So to wrap that all up, I thinks its a win for Rhapsody in Blue.

  1. I love how you looked up the shorter version. That's really smart. I love piano solos, they give me chills every single time. I like how it was a bunch of solo's put together to make one great epic song. Those instruments are all amazing by themselves and with each other. I can't believe the song is that long, but also I can believe it.
