Week 12

 For the final blog of the semester it looks like, I picked the song, Walk this way by Run DMC and Aerosmith. This is probably one of the most classic songs out there. And a lot of people really like it. Its a catchy remix of Aerosmith's song, and it was able to catch the attention of the rock people, because of Aerosmith, and at the same time, catch the attention of the rap and hip-hop communities because of Run DMC. Personally I like this song because it has a good solid beat, something that you could dance to, but at the same time it still has that hip - hop / rap vibe if you know what I mean. The video for this song I thought was pretty cool too. It has Aerosmith in a recording both next to Run DMC in a recording both. I don't want to explain the whole thing but you just have to watch it, its pretty funny. Another thing about this song that I like is that it truly has the qualities of an old school rap. They took the base line from Aerosmith's song, rapped over it and changed a couple of things, and there you go, a quality rap remix that has stood the test of time. Even today this song still sounds good, if you ask me it aged pretty well. Some songs even today still sound kind of similar to this. So well done Run DMC.

    This is a fun song with a good beat! My favorite part is the riff of the electric guitar in the beginning of the song that repeats itself throughout the rest of the song. I agree with the old school rap!! The vocals are fun and how they are basically speaking and yelling the lyrics. I love when they scream "walk this way". Overall a super fun song! Nice blog post!

    I also really like this song! I personally like both run DMC and Aerosmith separately so you know when they collaborate, it is going to be good! One thing that I like is how you pointed out the song has a very sold beat but at the same time gives off a rap/hip-hop vibe. I think it os cool how they can incorporate both of those things. Overall, great song choice and good post!

    I also wrote about this song this week. I loved the crossover of the two generas and how they were able to mesh so well. You can't go wrong listening to Steven Tyler scream the choruses of his songs either. They took lyrical and vocal talent and turned it into a song and made it work really well.

Week 8

Well for week 8 I picked the song "Theres a bad moon on the rise" by Credence clearwater revival. So I know this really doesnt have that much to do with the song but when I was like 10 I got a halloween card where part of this song played when you opened it. And the card said something like don't eat to much candy or you'll be in the bathroom on the right. And thats what I thought this song said, instead of " a bad moon on the rise", i thought it said, " there's a bathroom on the right." haha. But this song actually has a pretty cool sound too it. It sounds like a typical 60's song. Has a nice beat, easy to listen to, and just makes you feel good if you know what I mean. For me this song sounds somewhat upbeat and happy, but it doesn't talk about anything happy at all. Unless being prepared to die from bad storm is happy. I know this seems kinda weird but for some reason im surprised  that this song isn't in more movies and tv shows...

Week 4

For week 4 I picked waiting for a train by good old Jimmie Rodgers. I love this song, the message is a little sad but the sound of the song is great. It kind of sounds like Johnny Cash wrote it. I also like that its just super simple, which makes it easy for other people to play. I noticed how it has a good beat for a song from back then. Nothing like you could dance to really good or anything but still a nice beat. Something else I like is about it is that its almost seems like a crooning song. Personally I think its going a little fast to be a croon, but the way he is singing and how its getting picked up by a microphone makes it a have that croon vibe. And on top of the kind of croon sound its has the country vibe too. This might be one of the first country songs. At least for me its one of the earliest ones I have ever heard of. Week 6

Alright everybody, for this week I choose Tequila by the Champs. So when I saw this on the list of songs we can pick from I had no idea what it actually was, but this is the song from Pee-wee Herman's big adventure. The part where he is dancing in the bar trying to save his life. Anyway, this is one of those songs that just gets stuck in your head for ever after you listen to it.  I think its kind a funny that it says the same word 3 times for the lyrics. I also noticed how the album cover made it look like this was tough old western/mexican song, but when you hit play its just this goofy dance song haha. I like how they made the sound of the song, sound like a tequila if you know what I mean, whoever wrote it knew what they were doing cause it is spot on. And the fact that the 1 word lyrics sound like the skull talking is pretty cool too. But to wrap things up for the week, Great song, great lyrics, and I was blown away that this was the pee wee herman song
